Prophet leads Grand Heritage way

With 28 runners going to post in this year’s renewal of the World Sports Betting Grand Heritage, it might take a prophet to predict the winner. But with Prophet, trained by Corne Spies, topping the early bookmaker’s board revealed by World Sports Betting, the answer to who will win the best betting race of the year, might just be right in front of everyone’s eyes. A Grade 3-winner, this three-year-old was quoted at 5-1 yesterday. With the rest of the field quoted between 7-1 and 50-1, it’s no wonder that this 1475m event up the Vaal straight scheduled for Saturday, has been dubbed the best betting race of the year. The Non-Black Type race is unique in that it is the only race in South Africa to see more than 20 horses go to post to race over the rather odd distance. Interestingly, Prophet scored his third career win over 1450m. The early odds offered by World Sports Betting yesterday is: 5-1 Prophet; 7-1 Outofthedarkness; 8-1 Irish Tractor; 10-1 Indlamu, Paisley Park, Chyavana; 11-1 Dyce11; 14-1 Team Gold; 16-1 Expressfromtheus, Duke Of Sussex, Sea Master, Gallic Tribe; 20-1 Mardi Gras, Whafeef, Bard Of Avon, Cabinet Shuffle, Midnight Gem, Tuscan Winter, Share Holder; 25-1 Castletown, Safari Blue, Lucy In The Sky, Dockofthebay; 33-1 Kayla’s Champ, Willow Express, Sound Of Summer, Sir Michael; 50-1 Ululate.
