The Fairview lady trainers are enjoying a successful Women’s Month and get one last opportunity on Monday to finish off the celebrations in style.
At Friday’s Polytrack meeting three lady trainers, Sharon Kotzen, Kelly Mitchley and Tara Laing, won six of the eight races between them. They all have winning chances again on Monday and another lady trainer Montana Turner could also have a big say. Mitchley saddled a double on Friday and makes no secret about it that she wants to improve on her fine showing of 40 winners last season. She will be saddling the favourite Pembroke in the first race and predicts a huge run. Pembroke looks like a banker in the first leg of the Bipot.
The Place Accumulator starts in the second race where Mitchley with Swiftwinged, Turner with Celtic Vixen and Laing with Taste Maker should fight it out for the win. Kotzen had a brilliant day on Friday when she saddled a treble and Twice To Heaven will have many supporters in the third race, the first leg of the Pick Six.
Laing also has a lively runner in Chroniclesofnania but they all have to beat Rose Of Bayeux from the Duncan McKenzie stable. Other Mitchley runners to keep an eye on are Elusive Justice (sixth race) and Ready To Fly (seventh race).
As usual the eighth and last race at Fairview looks wide open. The stables of Laing, with Joyous Jubilee, Turner with Narcos, and Kotzen with Captain Casanova could round off Women’s month in style. Top trainer Alan Greeff had a rare winless afternoon on Friday but could provide the banker at a very competitive meeting – Central City with Richard Fourie up in the fifth race.
The meeting of eight races starts at 12:45.
