TENS OF MILLIONS TO BE WON ON A MUST-PLAY WEEKEND Top-level club soccer ...
YOU HAVE TO PLAY SATURDAY’S R40-MILLION SOCCER 13 What a weekend to play TAB soccer bets. There’s an array of enthralling matches, none more so than the City-Arsenal clash in Manchester on Sunday, and opportunities galore to win big bucks, notably Saturday’s Soccer 13 that boasts a guaranteed R40-million pool. VILLA AND LIVERPOOL TWO OF THE POTENTIAL BANKERS With that kind of money on the table and only R2 a line to play, tomorrow’s Soccer 13 is a must-bet pool and the good news is that there appear to be several bankers in the English Premiership and Championship games that make up the pool. Aston Villa and Liverpool both looked sharp in UEFA Champions League encounters midweek and should win at home against Wolves and Bournemouth respectively. The other English Premier League games are trickier, but it’s tempting to banker away wins for one or more of Newcastle, Brentford and Everton. Spurs are 4-7 favourites for a home victory against Brentford, but they have looked pretty ordinary recently and needed five substitutions and two late goals to overcome Championship side Coventry in the League Cup midweek. Brentford on the other hand are looking sharp and composed and gave Manchester City a run for their money last weekend. Beating Fulham away is never easy, but Newcastle travel to London off the back of wins over Spurs and Wolves, whereas their rivals got dumped out of the League Cup by championship outfit Preston on Tuesday. Everton go away to Leicester and after four successive EPL losses followed by a League Cup defeat to Southampton midweek, this is simply a have-to-win game for Sean Dyche’s men. The Championship games in the pool are competitive, but West Brom at home should have too much for Plymouth. SIX OTHER ADDED-CASH AND CARRYOVER POOLS! Six other TAB pools today through Sunday boast extra cash in the form of add-ins and carryovers, including R200,000-added Soccer 10 pools tonight and tomorrow, plus an enticing Soccer 4 on Sunday that has a R25,000 add-in and is headlined by the City-Arsenal clash at the Etihad. That match is undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend and the latest chapter in the ongoing war for the EPL title between Mikel Arteta’s London-based team and Manchester City. The Gunners head north having finished second to City in the title race in the last two seasons. Last season Arteta's men pushed Pep Guardiola's side right to the wire, but City, as they have done for most of the last decade, stayed strong to lift a sixth Premiership title in seven years. City have made a flying start to the new campaign, winning their first league four matches of the season, and they head the table with Arsenal, as usual, just two points back in joint-second with Newcastle. City are 17-20 favourites to win with 18-5 an Arsenal victory and 8-3 the draw, but whether those odds are a true reflection of the likely outcome is questionable. Both were unimpressive in Champions League midweek, City failing to solve the puzzle presented by the Inter Milan defence and Arsenal saved from defeat against Atalanta by an amazing double save by David Raya. That Arsenal will play without captain Martin Odegaard is a significant factor in City’s favour, but the hosts could be without the genius of Kevin de Bruyne who may also have to watch from the sidelines after being injured against Inter. At the end of the day which team scores first may prove the pivotal factor in what should be a fascinating tactical battle. Enjoy!
