TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 23- 25 May
MEGA MONEY TO BE WON ON FINAL-CURTAIN WEEKEND What a grand weekend to play TAB ...
Read moreWhat a grand weekend to play TAB soccer bets as the curtain comes down on the 2024-25 football season in most countries. TAB is pumping over R1 million in carryovers and bonus add-ins to nine pools Friday through Sunday, plus there’s a guaranteed R18-million pot for a single outright winner of Saturday’s Soccer 13. And it’s premium soccer action all the way as battles for slots in intercontinental club competitions and even a major league title go all the way to the wire.
The two games not to miss tonight are the Serie A title deciders comprising Inter Milan away to Como and log-leaders Napoli at home to Cagliari. Inter, who face PSG in the Champions League final Saturday week, are only a point behind Napoli and have a much superior goal difference. Both Inter and especially Napoli, who will have half of Naples cheering them on, should win with minimal fuss. Their rivals lack quality and have zero to play for barring avoiding injuries.
But nerves can do odd things and are probably the biggest obstacle between Napoli and their first Serie A title since 1989-90. Both matches are included in a R200,000 carryover Soccer 10.
For local football fans the carryover Soccer 10 and cash-added Soccer 4 and 6 pools are must-play bets. All comprise or include the first leg of the African Champions League between Sundowns and Pyramids, and six Betway Premiership games that will finalise the participants in next season’s MTN8 and whether Stellenbosch or Sekhukhune qualify for the CAF Conference league. Both look potential bankers to win in the Soccer 10 as do Real Madrid, who end the LaLiga season at home to Real Sociedad. It will be an emotional occasion as fans say farewell to manager Carlo Ancelotti and 39-year-old legend Luka Modric, who will go his own way after the Club World Cup.
Sheffield United should beat Sunderland at Wembley in M9 to win a place in the EPL next season and you can also bank on Sundowns winning at Loftus. Sundowns have not conceded a goal in their last six games and should pack too much quality for Pyramids, who were lucky to beat Pirates in the semis.
Sunday’s carryover Soccer 10 comprises the last 10 EPL matches of the 2024-25 and the battle for places in next season's UEFA Champions League is going all the way down to the wire.
Champions Liverpool and second-placed Arsenal are the only two sides to have guaranteed their place in the UCL next season. With the top five in the EPL making it into next season's Champions League, there are five sides left to battle it out for three remaining places.
Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are all separated by just three points going into the final day. Third-placed City are in the strongest position on 68 points, two clear of Newcastle, Chelsea and Villa and three ahead of Forest. Pep Guardiola's side also have a superior goal difference, meaning a point at Fulham should be enough to see them safely through.
For Newcastle and Chelsea, wins on Sunday should see them finish in the top five, so superior is their goal difference to Aston Villa.
Newcastle are at home to Everton, but the joker in the pack is that Chelsea's last game of the campaign is away to Forest. If Forest beat Chelsea they will finish above the Blues, but will still miss Champions League if Newcastle and Villa win.
The edge for Chelsea is that Forest have gone slightly off the boil since April, while Maresca’s side have found some form, winning four of their last five EPL matches.
The best bets in Sunday’s carryover Soccer10 are a home win for Bournemouth and away victories for Aston Villa, Arsenal, Brighton and Brentford.
