Final field for Epsom Oaks

Ante-post favourite Emily Upjohn will face 10 rivals in her bid for Classic glory in the Cazoo Oaks (17.30 SA time) at Epsom on Friday. The unbeaten filly has been a shade of odds-on for the third British Classic of the season after a dominant display at Sandown on reappearance and in the Musidora Stakes at York. John and Thady Gosden are doubly represented at the top of the market with current second favourite Nashwa, impressive winner of the Newbury Fillies' Trial, standing firm. Aidan O'Brien is seeking a historic tenth victory in this race and as usual brings with him a strong contingent, with 1000 Guineas third Tuesday heading a team of four. Stablemate Concert Hall takes a big step up in trip after finishing third in the Irish Guineas, while Cheshire Oaks winner Thoughts Of June and likely outsider The Algarve complete O'Brien's line-up. Tom Marquand and Joseph O'Brien – the combination who won the St Leger in 2020 – team up with Blue Wind Stakes winner Tranquil Lady, the only other Irish challenger in the field. As expected, Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Rogue Millennium, supplemented at the cost of £30,000, takes her place in the field and gives jockey Jack Mitchell a first ride in the contest. Pretty Polly winner With The Moonlight holds her place too and is Charlie Appleby's and Godolphin's only runner in the contest. Kawida beat the Godolphin filly as a juvenile and connections have opted to head to Epsom for the Oaks rather than compete in last week's Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp, with the hopes she can build on her reappearance third at the Prix Cleopatre in April. The Ralph Beckett-trained Moon De Vega finished 6.5lengths behind Thoughts Of June in the Cheshire Oaks and completes the Epsom line-up with the only one to miss out being the David Simcock-trained Ching Shih.
