25 declared for Grand Heritage

There will be “grand” racing at the Vaal on Saturday with the running of the R500,000 World Sports Betting Grand Heritage over 1475m.

This is a race for all horses rated net 106 and below and penalties apply for wins in Graded and Listed wins in the last 13 months to date of first entry.

It is the only race in the country that caters for more than 20 runners but the field size is restricted to 28 runners plus two reserves.

However, there were 25 runners left, so that will be the size of the field as they all stood their ground.

Tony Peter-trained Silent War currently tops the betting at 5-1. Peter has already declared his charge, who will carry 56.5kg and will be ridden by Calvin Habib.

Sean Tarry has Celtic Rumours and Pyromaniac among his four runners, and they will be ridden by Richard Fourie and Piere Strydom respectively.
