WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 19 - 21 April

TAB SOCCER POOLS ARE LOADED WITH KEY MATCHES TAB’s popular Soccer 13 gives football fans another great opportunity to win a mountain of money this Saturday with a guaranteed R26-million pool! That’s mind-blowing cash and all you have to do to get your chance of collecting is to pick a number from one to three 13 times. There are also five cash-added pools tonight and tomorrow and all are loaded with quality matches. What a weekend! () The final act of the 2023-2024 soccer season is now under way and there’s never been a better time to play TAB soccer pools. They are loaded with vital clashes as the pressure gauge climbs deep into the red and teams fight for titles, promotion and slots in continental competitions or to stave off relegation. CARRYOVER SOCCER 10 POOL IS A GEM - HAVE A GO! Saturday’s R100,000 carryover Soccer 10 is a cracker of a pool with an array of key matches from a variety of leagues and countries, plus the first of the weekend’s FA Cup semi-finals in which Chelsea and champions Manchester City cross swords. It’s been a week of vastly contrasting emotions for City that started with them back on top of the EPL table after shock defeats for Liverpool and Arsenal last Sunday, but that joy was swiftly followed by the bitter disappointment of losing a penalty shootout to Real Madrid in their own backyard. Expect City to come out with all guns blazing tomorrow and no doubt they are technically superior to Chelsea, which is why UK betting companies make them 8-13 favourites. But that superiority will count for zero unless it converts into goals and City’s inability to sometimes capitalise on the lion’s share of the possession makes this semi-final no foregone conclusion. The best banker bets in the pool look to be Pirates and Sekhukhune to win at home in PSL clashes and Brentford should post their second victory in a row when they make the trip north from London to play Luton. Manchester United are 8-15 favourites to beat Championship side Coventry in the other semi-final on Sunday and they too have all the necessary skills to triumph. What’s never certain with them is whether they will deliver their A game. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS WEEKEND SHORT: Lazio will not be full strength; good news for Chelsea as they square up to the champs; Cape Town City head to Polokwane minus their star centre-back; Anthony may miss FA Cup semi-final; no more Johannes for SSU this season. * Lazio have injury woes ahead of tonight’s Serie A clash at Genoa with Ciro Immobile (knee), Mattia Zaccagni (ankle), Luca Pellegrini (ankle), Matteo Guendouzi (shin), Alessio Romagnoli (shin) and Ivan Provedel not expected to play as the visitors target their eighth away win of the season. * Chelsea have struggled with injuries all season, but key players like Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill all look set to return for the FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City tomorrow. Chelsea are riding high after destroying Everton, whereas City are licking Champions League wounds. * Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has preferred three centre-backs this season, but must reshuffle his structure for Sunday’s away clash at Polokwane. City’s Keanu Cupido, who has developed into one of the best centre-backs in the DStv Premiership this season, misses the game because he begins a two-match ban for a red card in their last encounter against AmaZulu. * Manchester United winger Antony is a doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City. The Brazilian missed the match against Bournemouth last Saturday through injury, details of which have not been confirmed. Antony did post an update on Instagram, showing him rehabilitating in an ice bath. * Keegan Johannes will play no further part in this season’s DStv Premiership campaign after undergoing ankle surgery. The 23-year-old SuperSport United defender was hurt playing against AmaZulu in early March and has since undergone surgery, ruling him for the final six weeks of the campaign.
