Greeff, Fourie for Fairview double

September 2024

Jack Milner

In what is something of a surprise, Alan Greeff only has four runners on Monday’s card on the Fairview Polytrack but that has not stopped jockey Richard Fourie to come into town.

As Greeff has got two runners in Race 7, that leaves Fourie with just three rides for the stable and they all have winning chances.

Of course, that has allowed Fourie to pick up rides for other stables on the day and he still has a full card of rides, many of them with winning opportunities.

Perhaps, however, two of rides he has for Greeff are his best and they come up in Races 5 and 7. In both cases they are fillies taking on the colts but they look to have the gumption necessary to keep the boys in check.

The first comes up in Race 5, a Classified Stakes over 1400m where Greeff sends out four-year-old Erupt filly La Pequenita.

This filly finished third in a competitive field over the course and distance last time and in a Classified Stakes fillies get a sex allowance and that puts her right in the mix. Fourie is back in the irons after giving her a miss in her last three starts and in this moderate field, she should prove too good.

In Race 7, a MR 67 Handicap over 1600m, Greeff sends out three-year-old filly Eat Prey Love.

This daughter of New Predator contested a number of feature races as a juvenile where the likes of Splicethemainbrace proved too good.

She was rested after that and made her comeback after a three-month break last time where she drifted in the betting and finished sixth.

Although taking on the colts she has the most room for improvement and her lone win has come on the Polytrack. This is also not the strongest of fields.
