Wyenot indeed for Kelso backers

March 2025

Henry Daly's Wyenot looks to hold rock-solid claims in the Ladbrokes 'Big-Value You Can Bet On' Mares' Hurdle at Kelso on Saturday.

The six-year-old continues to improve this season, but that should not be a surprise given she signed off her last campaign by finishing less than 9 lengths behind the now champion hurdler Golden Ace at Cheltenham in April.

She returned to action in October with a win at Prestbury Park over the useful Anna Bunina, crucially on good ground so that should not hinder her this weekend.

At Cheltenham's November meeting she was then fourth under a big weight before getting back to winning ways at Doncaster when she gained a valuable Listed success with the future in mind.

Upped to a Grade Two back on Town Moor last time out, she was not disgraced at all when third to Jessica Harrington's Jetara and she looks a class apart in this, despite giving weight away.

Dare To Shout has a lot of twos next to his name and they are usually ones to avoid. But in this case his resolution has never been called into question.

Ann Hamilton's eight-year-old has faced some pretty stiff tasks, none more so than on his penultimate outing at Kelso when asked to give 10lb to a certain Myretown - which not surprisingly given recent events he could not manage.

This 5200m is a new trip for him over fences, but he shapes as if he will get it.

Lucinda Russell's Out Of The Woods created a nice impression when winning on his debut and while it takes an above average sort to carry a penalty in a bumper, he might be up to it.

Sent off a big price at Ayr, he looked the yard's second string on jockey bookings and still had plenty in front of him turning into the straight before powering away from a subsequent winner.

He again looks second-string on jockey bookings behind the Patrick Wadge-ridden Humble Jumble, but he is taken to surprise again in the Racing Post Go North Jodami Series Final Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Saint Segal loves Newbury and can land a nice pot for Jane Williams in the BetVictor Home Of The Saturday Superboost Handicap Chase.

Still only seven, three of his last four outings have come at the Berkshire track.

Hiss 11-length win over Beau Balko in December was not missed by the handicapper, but off his new mark he ran a blinder at Musselburgh next time behind The Kalooki Kid.

Third to Booster Bob in the Greatwood Gold Cup, he runs off the same rating here in a weaker event.

Crazierthandaisy looks to have been saved for the BetVictor British EBF "National Hunt" Mares' Novices' Hurdle. A winner at Warwick on New Year's Eve, she only went up 1lb and Nicky Henderson will have picked this valuable race out some time ago.

Gentleman Bill was a little out of his depth in the Morebattle Hurdle last time out but should find things easier in Bangor's Alfa Aggregates Products Handicap Hurdle.

His Catterick second behind Willie Mullins' Jarrive De Mee reads well given how that one won at Haydock recently and he is less exposed than most. - Press Association
