There are opportunities for money to be made in the first few races at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Westockmarketborse (Race 2) and Run To Rio (Race 3) look to have big chances in their respective heats.
Trainer Yogas Govender looks to have a decent prospect in filly Westockmarketborse. She recently joined his yard and having looked a winner in waiting for trainer Kom Naidoo could make a successful debut for Govender as she meets a weak field in this Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1950m.
She battled to get the timing right and ran second in three of her last four but has finished well ahead of subsequent winners such as Nightingales Sing and Questo E Quello and also convincingly beat re-opposing Joan The Wad who could be the biggest threat on form if judged on her progressive last performance.
Robert Khathi takes the ride.
Hopefully Run To Rio doesn’t turn out to be as low on confidence as stablemate Teatime Tipple who has been one of the costliest horses to follow this season. Run To Rio did well in races where he had to overcome wide draws after a solid start to his career.
It could be his turn in this as he previously finished many lengths ahead of Mar Del Plata who suddenly impressed last time and will be fancied, while Catavar tends to start slowly and might not be as effective over 1200m.
For a bit of value, it could be worth going big on El Draque in Race 8, a MR 68 Handicap over 1200m. It took him more than a few tries to shed his maiden tag, but he had some promising sorts beaten in the form of Wissa’s On Fire who will win soon and The Shepherd who has been successful twice since.
That pair would easily beat the field El Draque now meets.
In his post-maiden race, he was always in the vanguard when third behind Super Fast and Cotton Ron who had the run of the race.
