Warrior to lead the way at Greyville

Once again bettors are confronted with a competitive card at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday, but if looking for a banker it could be worth going with Peter Muscutt-trained Majestic Warrior in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1900m on the turf.

The Master Of My Fate gelding has only raced four times, his only unplaced run coming in his second start where he ran a 3.85-length fifth behind Swing Upon A Star over 1400m on the Polytrack. That was a decent enough run because the winner went on to take out the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes over 1200m.

Majestic Warrior was then tried on the turf, also over 1400m, where he ran on well to finish a 3.10-length fourth to Captainofthegreen. Just 2.30 lengths ahead of him that day in second place was Zooberi, who Majestic Warrior met again in his next start over 1600m at Greyville.

Zooberi went on to win that race but the gap was reduced to 1.10 lengths.

This time he goes 1900m and he should be even better over this sort of trip. He will be fitted with blinkers for the first time and Tristan Godden, who rode him in his last two races, will be back in the irons.

There could be some value going with Maquette in Race 2, a MR 85 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m.

While her best runs have been over 1000m, there is no reason – on breeding at least – why she could not win over the additional 200m

Her dam, Leeway, won over 1600m, even though her first win was over 1160m. Her sire, Red Ray, was a 1200m specialist while her half-sister Regina Isabella is a two-time winner over 1600m.

Muzi Yeni rode her last time for Duncan Howells, and he is back in the irons once again.
