The star East Cape filly Joy And Peace will be challenged by three classy Western Cape visitors at Fairview on Friday.
Gold Poker Game (Candice Bass-Robinson), Time For Love (Crawford/Rix) and the defending champion Flower Of Saigon (Glen Kotzen) will be making the trip to the Eastern Cape.
They will contest the R150 000 Listed Jockey Club Stakes over 2000m. It should be a thrilling affair when they clash with Joy And Peace from the stable of the East Cape champion Alan Greeff.
Joy And Peace has won her last four starts. She has an excellent record at the Fairview Turf track and is distance suited.
Champion jockey Richard Fourie will be in the saddle and the locals will be shouting Joy And Peace home in the third and last leg of the East Cape Challenge for fillies and mares.
The first two legs were both won by Cape Town horses - Pineapplemintgreen and Rainbow Lorikeet – which will give the visiting trio confidence to secure another victory.
Gold Poker Game won her only attempt on this course. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and a big run from a good draw is expected.
Time For Love was tremendously unlucky in her last start not to have won the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes at this track.
She tackles the distance for the first time which can make her task more difficult but Time For Love can’t be ignored. Gareth Wright is her jockey.
Flower Of Saigon has proved herself over course and distance. The seven-year-old mare won this race last year with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle.
Muzi Yeni will be riding Flower Of Saigon on Friday and she will again be a factor.
It will be a huge surprise if Joy And Peace and the three visitors are not the first four past the post – take the Quartet.
The Jockey Club Stakes has the potential to be one of the best races this year at Fairview. It is race seven on the card at 15:55. Don’t miss it!
The meeting starts at 12:25 and the Bass-Robinson yard can strike early for the visitors.
The filly Stu’s Girl looks like a banker in the first leg of the Bipot with Domeyer in the saddle.
Domeyer rides another strong favourite in the second race at 13:00. Turbo Twenty looks hard to oppose in the first leg of the Place Accumulator.
The Pick Six starts in race three at 13:35 with a competitive Novice Plate over 1200m.
Gimme’s Lassie (Gavin Smith) will be aiming to win for a third time in a row in race four at 14:10.
The Gimmethegreenlight gelding is in brilliant form but the handicapper got hold of him a bit. He is still the horse to beat in the first leg of the first Jackpot.
