Vicky blows them away in Betway Merchants

Vars Vicky caused a massive upset in the Grade 3 Betway Merchants over 1160m at Turffonten as she romped to a comfortable one-length victory over another outsider, Tread Swiftly. victory over

Ridden by Randall Simons and trained by Stuart Pettigrew, Vars Vicky paid R29.40 for a win and R5.20 for a place. Tread Swiftly started at 66-1 and paid R6.20 for the place.

Desert Miracle, who went off at 33-20 ran third, with Full Velocity in fourth.

The win gave Pettigrew a quick double as he earlier captured the Grade 3 Joburg Tourism Magnolia Handicap over 1160m with Alula’s Star.

“I just been a lovely day so far and I hope it continues,” said Pettigrew.
