Unofficial juvenile merit ratings for G1 features

June 2023

While all horses do not get an official merit rating until they have raced three times, and those of juveniles are not published until they turn three, the handicappers do rate most of the horses after each run.

There are no merit ratings shown for the runners in the Allan Robertson Championships nor the Gold Medallion, both Grade 1 races over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville tomorrow, but we do have their unofficial ratings.

Below are the unofficial merit ratings that can be used as a guide to decide who are the runners to follow.

Allan Robertson Championship (Race 5)

Moving In 87

Golden Tatjana 94

Rascova 96

Captain’s Christy 88

Global Thunder 93

Troppo Veloce 92

Red Hot Rose 100

Elegant Ice 98

Cullinan Blue 92

Winter Cloud 103

Hot Pearl 94

Mrs Geriatrix 102

Gold Medallion (Race 6)

Icy Blast 95

Let the Flag Fly 99

Guy Gibson 99

Red Bomber 98

Outlaw King 98

The Africa House 94

Warrior Of Royalty 98

Egyptian Mau 94

Cliff Hanger 100

The Abdicator 94

Lucky Lad 110

Of all the runners in the two races, Lucky Lad in the Gold Medallion is the highest rated at 110 with Cliff Hanger next best at 100. That puts Sean Tarry’s charge at least 5kg better off with any of his opposition.

The fillies’ race is more competitive but Winter Cloud (103), Mrs Geriatrix (102) and Red Hot Rose (100) are the three highest rated runners.
