Tyrrhenian Sea can repeat his victory of last year in the BetUK Quebec Stakes at Lingfield on Tuesday.
Roger Varian's flashy six-year-old is an established all-weather specialist now, with his five turf starts yielding just one placed run while his synthetics record encompasses four wins and five placed efforts from 11 outings.
Tyrrhenian Sea was a winning favourite in this 2000m contest 12 months ago, but subsequently had to settle for third in the Group Three Winter Derby in February, with the race's revised distance of 2200m and transfer to Southwell not really playing to his strengths.
Off the track from that run until lining up in Newcastle's Churchill Stakes last month, the gelding was a bit keen early on and those exertions possibly just told against the likes of The Foxes and Dubai Honour.
Those two horses gave the form a huge boost at the Hong Kong International meeting, with The Foxes taking fourth in the Cup and dual Australian Group One winner Dubai Honour finishing second in the Vase, so Tyrrhenian Sea was firmly up against it at the weights.
Royal Champion is a fascinating rival as he has a first all-weather start and initial outing for Karl Burke, having most recently run last month in Group One company for the Freedman team in Australia, but preference is for the proven selection, who should be spot on following his reappearance run.
Bedford Flyer was narrowly denied last time out but can make amends in the Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap.
He set out to make all over 1000m at Southwell off a mark of 90 and was only caught in the final strides, with Brooklyn Nine Nine edging victory by a nose at the post.
The handicapper has raised him 2lb for that effort but he has won off a mark of 94 in the past and cannot be ruled out.
Acklam Express was third in that race and lines up in the £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap.
He is now down to a mark of 79 - 1lb lower than his last winning perch - and is rarely far away from the frame.
Crazierthandaisy has let favourite backers down on each of her two starts so far this term but can be afforded one last chance in the Poundland EBF Mares' "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Warwick.
Winner of one of her two bumpers, Nicky Henderson's charge was expected to make a winning start over obstacles at Uttoxeter last month but trailed home a 10-length second as the 11-10 market leader.
Confidence was undiminished at the second attempt, with the mare going off an odds-on chance but again finding one too good at Southwell just over two weeks ago. She clearly has ability but needs things to fall in her favour.
Knockanore can defy a 10lb hike in the QuinnBet Novices' Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter.
He hacked up by 13 lengths over the same 4000m he faces here just before Christmas and a swift double is a firm possibility. - Press Association
