Midweek racing at Kenilworth often provides small but competitive fields which test studiers of form.
However, that does not look to be the case on Wednesday’s card where there look to be two bankers in the exotics and some other races where one could get a way with just a few runners.
Of course, that does not make for a big payout but one has the opportunity to take a larger percentage in one’s permutations, in particular the Pick 6.
It comes as no surprise that those bankers come from the Justin Snaith yard while Grant van Niekerk and Aldo Domeyer are the two jockeys involved.
The first comes up in Race 4, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m, where Snaith sends out Innamorare. This son of Master Of My Fate made an eye-catching debut when staying on to finish a 1.25-length second behind Yellowporscheroad, who looks well above average, over 1000m four weeks ago.
He would have come on appreciably for that outing so, with the benefit of that experience under his belt and natural improvement expected over the extra 200m, Innamorare, with Van Niekerk up, should take some beating.
The other is Grade 3 Nursery winner We're Jamming, who made an encouraging stable debut for Snaith having joined from Piet Steyn after a private sale. He was probably in need of that run so one can expect the two-year-old Duke Of Marmalade colt should get back to winning ways in Race 7, the Non Black-Type Cape Thoroughbred Farm Sale over 1200m, when resuming his partnership with Domeyer.
He has been incredibly consistent with his five runs producing that win in the Cape Nursery and four second places.
This race carries prize money of R400,000 so could prove quite a boost to recouping his sales price.
