TUESDAY ON THE POLY

September 2024

Henk Steenkamp

Some highly rated fillies and mares will contest the Racing Today Graduation Plate, in what could be the highlight at the Fairview Polytrack on Tuesday.

Eight runners will contest this race over 1300m when Gimme’s Lassie (Gavin Smith) and Summer Odyssey (Alan Greeff) will have many supporters.

Gimme’s Lassie was unlucky not to have won her last start and Smith expects a “big effort” from a good draw.

This is race three on the card of eight races and it is also the first leg of the Pick Six at 13:30.

Gimme’s Lassie is the strong favourite and many punters will go with her as a Pick Six banker.

I would include Summer Odyssey and Greeff warned that there are also others in the race that can feature.

Walt Whitman is our banker in race five, a handicap over 2000m and the first leg of the second Jackpot, at 14:40.

The three-year-old Canford Cliffs colt won his last start in impressive fashion and can follow up.

Greeff commented Canford Cliffs has been “working really well” and feels he is a hard horse to beat.

If you don’t want to banker Canford Cliffs, the Sharon Kotzen-trained Slainte Mhath is one to look at. The Kotzen stable is in great form.

Masked Vigilante is another Greeff runner to consider as a banker. He has been threatening to win again in his last few starts. He is a big runner in race six at 15:15.

The first race is at 12:20.
