Trajanus stands out as the best on the day.

November 2025

Jack Milner

Trainer Sean Tarry has a full string of runners in action at the Vaal on Tuesday when he has 13 runners carded.

He has a three-pronged attack in both the opening and closing events on the eight-race card, but his best could come up in Race 7 where he sends out Trajanus.

This three-year-old son of Danon Platina has only raced four times, finishing second in his first three starts before shedding his maiden last time with an emphatic three-length victory over Seed Seeker. That came despite having been bumped at the start.

After his first two races the decision was taken to geld him and his two runs since that operation have rested in a 0.80-length defeat by Miami Mountain over 1200m before that facile victory.

The Miami Mountain form has worked out very well as three winners – including Miami Mountain winning his next start and Trajanus himself – have come out of that form line.

With Craig Zackey in the irons Trajanus looks the runner to beat in this Novice Handicap over 1000m.

The United Nations has turned into a really decent sire and is producing some really top-class horses, including Tin Pan Alley, also trained by Tarry, who won the Grade 2 Joburg Spring Challenge and the Grade 3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes.

Another of the stallion's progeny looks destined for success in Race 6, where United Offer, a three-year-old filly by The United States, looks ready to resume winning ways.

Victorious on debut over 1200m in late September, she followed up with a running-on fourth over 1160m on Charity Mile day, a mere 10 days ago. The bird had flown by the time she hit top stride, though that effort suggested she would be more effective over a longer trip.

As such, the step up to 1400m should be ideal, and with S’manga Khumalo taking over the reins from Zackey, United Offer looks solid value to continue her upward trajectory.

The United Offer - Trajanus play makes for an appealing TAB Double.
