Top entries for Guineas Day

There are some interesting horses among the entries for the World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas and Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.

The two Grade 2 races over 1600m, which are the respective first legs of the World Sports Betting SA Triple Crown and the Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara, will be run on the Standside track at Turffontein on Saturday 4 February.  

Shoemaker and Anfields Rocket, who both had disappointing trips to Cape Town for the Cape Guineas, are among the entries. Anfields Rocket already had an excellent warm-up run when winning a race over 1000m at Turffontein last Sunday.

Mike de Kock, trainer of Shoemaker, has also entered East Coast and Arividicio.

Other runners of interest are Jimmy Don, Billy Bowlegs, Royal Victory and Unzen.

There have been 18 nominations for the Fillies Guineas and this looks to be a competitive race with the likes of Orarari Gold, None Other, Bonete and Emirate Gina.  

Supplementary entries close at 9am on Monday with declarations by 11am on Tuesday.
