Terminator is on a mission, and as all movie-lovers know, Terminators never give up.
Trainer Andre Nel has decided to send his four-year-old son of Trippi on the 1500km trek from the Mother City of Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg – the town colloquially referred to as the last outpost.
Terminator is carded to run at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday in Race 6, a MR 76 Handicap over 1400m, where he is expected to say “hasta la vista” to his six opponents right from the start.
The gelding makes his first foray on to “foreign” soil but considering the form he has been in this season, one might actually go so far as to say he has been given a rather simple task.
He not only brings rocket-power Western Cape form into the race, but that form has been extensively franked, with a number of subsequent winners coming from his four outings this season.
Terminator also looks better than the handicapper gives him credit for and at Scottsville he should prove he has the ammunition to make the opposition quiver off a rating of 75.
In his penultimate, when shedding his maiden tag, he beat the 83-rated Bounceback. Last time out, he finished less than a length behind the now 94-rated two-time winner Aristotle.
It does seem that Nel has found the perfect race for Terminator to flex his muscles under jockey Serino Moodley.
Should Terminator complete his mission successfully, one thing is for sure: He’ll be back in KwaZulu-Natal.
