Tarry to grant punters a Lovable day

Bettors are faced with another tough card at Turffontein on Saturday but trainer Sean Tarry looks to have a few decent runners on the day.

The best of a good bunch looks to be Lovable who will line up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1160m.

She caught the eye on her course-and-distance debut when staying on to finish fourth against male opposition in a lucrative Summer Cup day maiden that has already thrown up four subsequent winners.

That was a powerful race, and this daughter of Rafeef would have come on significantly for the experience. Once again she takes on the boys but does receive a 2.5kg sex allowance and this time she should be too good.

Mike and Mathew de Kock-trained Trombolines was also carded to contest this race but the Querari colt won at Turffontein on Tuesday and is no longer eligible to contest a Maiden.

Former champion jockey Keagan de Melo has got off to a good start since returning from Hong Kong and he takes over the reins on Lovable from S’manga Khumalo.
