Take the ‘Wright’ path at Greyville

One World gelding World Of Our Own could be hard to beat if judged on his debut run when he lines up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1400m on the turf at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.

He is a half-brother to the Eastern Cape champion Grazinginthegrass who to date has won 15 races. But Alyson Wright’s charge won’t need to be half as good to win this race. He finished 2.10 lengths behind Comedy Club over 1400m and while the form line behind him hasn’t worked out too well, Comedy Club was impressive.

In fact, he is carded to run in the feature race on the card, the Model Man Mile, which must say a lot about World Of Our Own’s chances in a maiden.

Siphesihle Hlengwa has done well for Wright and gets the ride in a race where main danger Top Gun has drawn widest.

A horse that has plenty in his favour is Captain Oliver for trainer Frikkie Greyling. The Potala Palace gelding was eye catching on debut when coming from many lengths back to finish third after a slow start. The form line is proving very strong, having produced two winners and two second-placed finishers.

The winner of that race, Actor, and runner up Artist’s Model both feature in the Model Man Mile along with Jaham and Comedy Club. All four are robust and improving colts and with the scratching of early favourite, filly Spirit Of Levana, they are expected to fight out the finish.
