With only five days to go before the running of the Hollywoodbets Durban July, racing aficionados countywide are already starting to gather in KZN for the running of Africa’s greatest race.
In customary July fashion, TAB has boosted a number of exotic July pools, making it easier for bettors from all walks of life to participate in the greatest race on the African continent, while standing a chance to win mega-money.
For starters, the Quartet on the Durban July will be boosted by R2-million, so the final pool is expected to top R15-million!
To win your share of this mega-payout, all you have to do is select the first four horses across the finish line.
TAB has also added a R2-million carryover to the Pick 6, with the pool expected to exceed a whopping R20-million. The first leg of the Pick 6 is Race 4, the DStv Gold Vase over 3000m, scheduled to commence at 13:40.
TAB is also offering three Jackpot bets on the day, with the final Jackpot, starting in Race 9, set to go off at 17:40. This Jackpot starts off with a R500,000 carryover and should hit the R3-million mark.
To add even more spice to the day, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will be offering World Pool bets on two races, the Durban July (Race 7 at 16:00) and the Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes for fillies and mares (Race 8 at 17:00).
The payouts on these races are always more than expected as the massive pools cannot be diluted with big punts.
All TAB Win, Place, Exacta, Quinella and Swinger bets on these races will be commingled directly into the Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool tote. These should be the biggest tote pools in the history of SA horseracing, so punters can bet their maximum without denting the payout.
TAB is also offering local bettors two extra chances to win.
The Daily Champion Punter competition pays out R18,000, so when you take a bet with TAB, opt in, place your qualifying bets on the Durban July races, and if your picks bring in the highest returns, you could win a share of R18,000.
Last, but by no means least, TAB is offering a promotion on Race 10 where bettors stand not just a chance to win big, but to get their money back if their chosen horse runs second.
Place a bet on Race 10 and if your horse wins, you’ll bank the cash as usual, but if your horse runs second, you’ll get your money back. It’s a win-win!
