Hithemhardsunshine has yet to win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville but that could be about to change as he looks to be in the right race on Monday.
It is a day of big fields where anything can happen and that usually means solid payouts, but there are a few nice win bet options.
Hithemhardsunshine is the horse with the most advanced prep on the day and as a result rates the best bet. He finished ninth in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint over 1200m which is one of South Africa’s premier sprint races, won this year by Sean Tarry’s smashing sprinter Lucky Lad. It was a race that Alyson Wright-trained Hithemhardsunshine was not only under sufferance at the weights but also 1200m is a stretch for him at the highest level.
But he ran a cracker, showing good pace and only coming undone over the final 200m. Now running over 1000m, his best distance, in Race 7, a MR 112 Handicap, he should be hard to catch. All of Pray For Rain, Countdown and Cliff Top couldn’t match strides with him in the Grade 1 and could find it tougher still to catch him over the shorter trip.
Tarry, who has an amazing record in Grade 1 sprints at Scottsville, has what looks to be the other good bet on the day in Race 1, where he sends out Amanatto in a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies. Amanatto is well bred being by Danon Platina out of Trippi mare Sugar Girl who is related to Graded race winners Ilha Da Vittoria and Ilha Bela.
The filly made good progress to finish fourth in her first start, beaten 3.50 lengths by Stuart Pettigrew’s promising debut winner Basked In Glory, and was quickly brought down to KwaZulu-Natal which could indicate they are planning to get her into the upcoming features at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
She is highly regarded and should be hard to beat even if meeting a big field. But as always keep an eye on the betting on the first-timers as there are nine of them.
