The withdrawal of Got The Greenlight from the R1-million World Sports Betting Gauteng Summer Cup over 2000m at Turffontein on Saturday 28 November has seen Summer Pudding move to the top of the latest log for the Grade 1 race.
Summer Pudding is trained by Paul Peter, who is also responsible for the two supplementary entries, Riverstown and Astrix. Both have made an immediate entry on to the log with Riverstown at No 15 and Astrix at No 20.
Unbeaten Summer Pudding, who has not raced since winning the Grade 1 Woolavington 2000 at Greyville in June, will be seen in action at Turffontein on Saturday when she will make her comeback in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m.
Riverstown has been allocated 56.5kg but is drawn No 41 of the 51 runners entered. Astrix fared a lot better in both departments, given a weight of 53kg and has landed No 8 draw.
World Sports betting announced last week that they would come is as the
sponsor of one of South Africa’s most iconic races.
As part of the sponsorship, the stake of the Grade 1 race, one of the major events on the national horseracing calendar, has been increased from R425,000 to R1 million.
World Sports Betting will also sponsor all the supporting races on the card with the exception of the Grade 3 Merchants over 1200m, which will kindly be sponsored by New Turf Carriers again.
Final entries close at 11:00 on Monday 16 November with declarations by 11:00 on Tuesday 17 November.
Weights may change up to the time of declarations, but there will be NO change to the weights after the final field has been issued. The maximum field size is 20 runners.
