SPLICE IS NICE

May 2024

Henk Steenkamp

Splicethemainbrace will be looking to make it three Listed victories in a row on Friday at Fairview.

The unbeaten (from four starts) daughter of Master Of My Fate should be hard to oppose in the R100 000 Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes for two-year-old fillies over 1400m.

Splicethemainbrace impressed when she won the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery in March and the Listed East Cape Nursery last month.

She should have no problem stepping up to 1400m and can remain unbeaten, although the gutsy Happy Holly will be ready to challenge strongly again.

Be Merry is visiting after three good runs in Cape Town. She should be involved at the finish.

The Lady’s Slipper Stakes is race seven on the card of nine races and is part of Jackpot One.

Punters will be very interested in Jackpot One. The pool has been boosted and will hopefully reach R1 million.

It is an early start to the meeting, with the first race off at 12:00. Race two at 12:30 is the first leg of the Bipot.

The third race is the start of the Place Accumulator at 13:00.

Pick Six players get involved from race four at 13:35 and race five is the first leg of that carryover Jackpot.

The meeting is scheduled for the turf but rain is predicted for Friday – keep an eye on the track conditions and a possible change of surface from turf to poly.
