Special Envoy can deliver for Windsor backers

June 2022

Expect Special Envoy to get off the mark on Monday for John and Thady Gosden when he runs in the Royal Ascot On Sky Sports Racing Novice Stakes at Windsor.

The Juddmonte-owned son of Frankel cost one million guineas as a yearling and is bred to be speedy being a half-brother to both Group One-winning sprinter Marsha and Group Three-scorer Judicial.

However, the colt had no problem lasting out the 10-furlong (2000m) trip when beaten a neck by a well-backed Godolphin rival on debut and could thrive over the distance once again.

The fact he was sent off 9-1 on that occasion suggests he was not fully wound up and it would be no surprise to see him open his account in good fashion here.

Noman was all at sea on the ridges at Ripon when last seen, so put a line through that and give him another chance in the Buy Fitzperfectly At www.oldgoldracing.com Handicap.

Still lightly raced, he showed a good attitude when pressed to win at Leicester prior to that and represents a Hugo Palmer yard going along very nicely just now from his new base in Cheshire.

There could be further success for increasingly high-profile owners Amo Racing in Pontefract's opener, the Northern Commercials - Service, Sales And Parts EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, when Double O attempts to get off the mark at the third attempt.

The son of Kessaar has hit the frame on both outings to date, including when sent off favourite at Carlisle last time, and this track could suit as the two-year-old steps up in trip to six furlongs (1200m).

David Loughnane has his youngsters in rare form at present and his charge can put his experience to good use here.

Paul Midgely has won the Castleford Tigers Handicap three times on the bounce and the top weight Elegant Erin could give the Yorkshire handler further success in the five-furlong (1000m) handicap.

The five-year-old has won both starts so far this season and her power-packed finishing efforts can come to the fore once again up the stiff finish of the Pontefract home straight.

She has been handed a 5lb rise for her most recent success at Carlisle, but she was never being caught by her nearest pursuer on that occasion and is primed for another bold bid in search of a hat-trick.

Bavardages is another who can land a hat-trick in the Wakefield Trinity Handicap. His last two victories have come over a mile (1600m), but he has the versatility to stretch out to 10 furlongs (2000m) here and he remains well treated on the very best of his form.

Flint Hill was a winner over course and distance in September and is of real interest returning to Pontefract for the Tony Bethell Handicap off the same winning figure. He was far too keen at York last time, but this looks slightly calmer waters and Ruth Jefferson is not known for running her horses for the sake of a day out.

Laura Morgan is never far from the winner's enclosure at Southwell and her Captain Ivan could be the answer to the Royal Ascot On Sky Sports Racing Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old has been knocking on the door off a mark of 111 of late and can finally make his mark off that figure for a yard that is well amongst the winners so far this summer. - Press Association
