Jack Milner: Punting on the Polytrack in Durban has not always been clear-cut for bettors but if form works out on Wednesday, there look to be some good bets at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Best of the bunch could be Cupid’s Song in Race 3, a Maiden Plate for colts and geldings over 1200m. The Oratorio gelding has raced four times and after two moderate efforts, he found betting support in his penultimate race which was over this course and distance.
Tony Rivalland’s charge finished a 0.80-length second behind Mexican Catdance and in his next start – this time fitted with blinkers – he ran third over 1200m at Scottsville.
Back on the Polytrack against a very moderate field with Lyle Hewitson up, Cupid’s Song should shed his maiden.
Shape Of You runs in Race 4, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1600m. She was heavily backed in her last two but in her penultimate start at Greyville she landed a wide draw. Last time at Scottsville she may just have found one better. Anton Marcus gets the ride.
She could also be a banker unless blinkers bring out massive improvement in Top Me Up Holly.
Goodtime Guy won his last start without raising a sweat. He was given a five-point hike in the ratings, but it might not be enough to stop him as the opposition looks average. He rates another with a massive chance in Race 8, a MR 79 Handicap over 1400m.
Another possible banker could be Emerald Palace in Race 5, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares but over 1900m.
The only problem is that she has produced four seconds and a third in her last five starts so she tends to find something to beat her. Warren Kennedy takes the ride.
