Snaith to get back in the groove

Recently crowned 2023/24 Equus Champion Trainer Justin Snaith can flex his proverbial muscles on the nine-race weekend card at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday as he holds a strong hand on the day that looks likely to see him win three races.

Snaith with jockey Grant van Niekerk should win Race 2 over 1250m with Let It Be Said who finished second in both course appearances last month, including his latest outing over the same course and distance.

And the same combination could be at it again in Race 4 over 1600m with three-year-old Landoftherisingsun, whose last-start third on yielding ground over track and trip was very encouraging.

In his previous outing, this Danon Platina colt finished an eye-catching third over 1400m on the Winter course at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth from the widest draw in an 11-horse field and the form of that race has worked out well.

Snaith has two strings to his bow in Race 5 over 1800m and could win with either Among The Clouds, who has finished second in both outings over the trip, and last-start course-and-distance winner Lickety Split who is 1.5kg worse off with her stablemate whom she beat by 0.75 lengths in a similar contest on 23 August.

Van Niekerk retains the ride on Lancaster Bomber filly Among The Clouds with JP van der Merwe, Lickety Split's regular rider, again to partner the daughter of Gimmethegreenlight.
