Miller chases Leg 2 of Poly Challenge

September 2022

Jack Milner

The scratching of Global Drummer from Race 7 at Fairview on Friday, the Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Polytrack Challenge over 1400m, may have paved the way for trainer Cliffie Miller to pick up this Non-Black Type feature race, the second leg of the Poly Challenge.

Miller-trained stable companions Greenlighttoheaven and Naval Secret fought out the first leg of the Poly Challenge over 1200m in August with the latter coming out on top by a short head.

A victory in this 1400m race will put Naval Secret in line to challenge for the R250,000 bonus should he also win the third leg over 1600m on 21 October.

Both were ahead of Pleasedtomeetyou last month and both could arguably be better horses over 1400m.

Once again Wayne Agrella rides Greenlighttoheaven while Muzi Yeni is aboard Naval Secret.

Both are capable of a strong finish and deserve respect.

Pleasedtomeetyou has been in good form for current trainer Juan Nel and this longer distance should not be a problem. He has won over 1300m and while he has yet to triumph over the extra 100m, he has place three times in four runs over the distance

Trainer Alan Greeff should get punters off to a winning start when Divine Design lines up in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for three-year-old fillies over 1200m.

She has been runner-up in her two starts and should be smart enough to take care of her rivals this time.
