The champion stable of Gavin Smith has been dominating racing in the last month of 2023 at the Fairview Polytrack.
Smith has saddled nine winners in the three Poly meetings this month and looks set to play a major role again at the Poly meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
The stable is clearly in red-hot form and will saddle at least three favourites – Enchanted Sky (race 1 number 1), Reach For the Stars (race 3 number 1) and Waz Wouter (race 4 number 5).
Smith won the last three races on Friday’s card and can make it four in a row with Enchanted Sky in the first on Tuesday.
The Visionaire filly just missed out on victory in her last two starts but can win from pole position with S’manga Khumalo up. Si Gioca (Alan Greeff) is the danger.
The first race is off at 12:35 and is the first leg of the Bipot. The second race at 13:10 gets the Place Accumulator underway where we have a Cape Town visitor Flamboyant Flyer (Candice Bass-Robinson) as the favourite.
Reach For the Stars will be a very popular banker in the first leg of the Pick Six, race three at 13:45.
The four-year-old Gimmethegreenlight gelding was the runner-up in both his starts on the Poly and should find the winners’ box this time. He is drawn in pole position and has Khumalo in the irons.
The Sharon Kotzen yard has turned the corner and Give Us A Smile looks the only one who can give the favourite a run for his money with Luyolo Mxothwa as the pilot.
Waz Wouter is another Smith runner threatening to find the winners’ box with Khumalo riding. He is the horse to beat in the fourth race, which is the first leg of the Jackpot at 14:20.
