Sing the ‘Blues’ on the Polytrack

While most of the races on Monday’s racecard at Hollywoodbets Greyville look to be typical midweek Polytrack fare, there are one or two decent opportunities for bettors.

There is a good opportunity for punters to get off to a winning start with Madison Blues in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1600m.

He probably should have won when racing in the Western Cape and did not have the best of fortune when making his debut in KwaZulu-Natal for trainer Paul Lafferty but he shifted and got a bump and went down just 0.10 lengths to Captain Corrupt.

He is having his first run on the Polytrack but his form is a lot better than that of his opposition and with Keagan de Melo up this three-year-old Vercingetorix gelding will be hard to beat. They will jump from No 6 draw.

The obvious danger is Shoefella, trained by Peter Muscutt. This Jackson gelding has been the runner-up in his last two starts including one on the Polytrack. He is drawn widest of all at No 10 but Exactas and Swingers with the two could be a good move.

One must go back 623 days to find the last time You Deserve It paid a visit to the winner’s enclosure but it could finally be her turn when she lines up in Race 6, a MR 72 Handicap for fillies and mares over 2000m.

In 10 races on the Polytrack she has a record of three wins and five places and will be having her third run after a layoff. She has drawn badly in her last two starts and for once the Gary Rich-trained runner will jump from barrier No 3.

She has raced against stronger and with in-form Kabelo Matsunyane up, this five-year-old Pathfork mare now looks ready to win.
