SATONO REVE SET FOR HISTORIC SUCCESS

June 2025

By Nick Grant, PA

History is in the making on the final day of Royal Ascot, with Satono Reve fancied to become the first ever Japanese-trained winner at the showpiece meeting.

The six-year-old lines up in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, bringing Group One form to the table from his homeland and just as notably fine efforts

behind the mighty Ka Ying Rising in Hong Kong.

An eyecatching spin up the July course in Newmarket last week left onlookers in little doubt he will be a serious player against the established sprinting names.

His backers have no need to be concerned about the man on top, either, as 'Magic Man' Joao Moreira is no stranger to Ascot, having been a regular at the Shergar Cup fixture over the years.

Charlie Appleby has only won the Chesham Stakes once - but it was with Pinatubo, who went on to secure champion two-year-old honours.

Whether Treanmor is another Pinatubo only time will tell, of course, but the Frankel colt did look chock-full of potential when debuting in a novice event at Newmarket last month and has to be followed.

Appleby, William Buick and Godolphin should enjoy a good afternoon, as Rebel's Romance is the safest option in the Hardwicke Stakes.

His CV is littered with big-race victories around the globe and he showed his heart for a battle is still there at the age of seven when recording a head success in the Yorkshire Cup.

He should certainly appreciate coming back in distance to his favoured mile and a half.

William Haggas appears to have pulled off a masterstroke in going sprinting with More Thunder and he can record a hat-trick in the Wokingham Stakes.

The son of Night Of Thunder was campaigned over 10 furlongs when with Sir Michael Stoute, but Haggas saw speed potential in him and his hunch has been proved right.

He won with more in hand than the official margin suggests last time out, after which Haggas pointed towards this as the obvious target. He looks nicely weighted and bigger things surely await.

Remmooz is the pick in a Jersey Stakes that does not stand out as having any completely obvious stars in it.

An unbeaten son of Blue Point, the Owen Burrows-trained colt is two from two, both at Doncaster, most recently making light work of a penalty.

Seraph Gabriel ran a fine race at Sandown on his return from a lengthy absence and is worthy of support in the Golden Gates Stakes, while it is probably folly to oppose the Willie Mullins-trained Sober in the concluding Queen Alexandra.
