ROBINSON LANDFILL FIRE

Please be advised that the Robinson Landfill site, located across from Turffontein Racecourse, is currently on fire. 

4Racing would like to assure stakeholders that all horses and staff are safe and not in any danger.

The blaze is producing significant smoke, which is impacting the surrounding area. Emergency services are on site and actively working to contain the blaze, but current indications are that it may take several days to extinguish fully.

Given the extent of the situation, a decision will be made tomorrow morning regarding the relocation of the Turffontein race meeting. At this stage, it is highly likely that the meeting will be moved to the Vaal Classic Track.

It is important to note that field sizes for this meeting are already small, and any additional scratchings that may occur as a result of the venue change may jeopardize the entire meeting.
