Roaring can make Rasen impact

February 2024

Olly Murphy's Roaring Legend has been making a good go of his switch to the National Hunt code and can get off the mark in the Follow Us On X @Betrhino Juvenile Maiden Hurdle at Market Rasen.

The four-year-old was formerly trained on the Flat by James Ferguson, winning twice over 2400m, and joined Murphy ahead of the current season.

His debut over hurdles came in a Kempton juvenile in January, where he finished second before being stepped up to Listed level in the Scottish Triumph Hurdle. There he was second again and on the merit of that run he looks poised to claim a first hurdling success when meeting maiden company in Lincolnshire.

Ruth Jefferson's Lavida Adiva has done little wrong all season and can bring home more prize-money in the Read Henry Brooke On Blog.Rhino.Bet EBF Mares' "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.

The five-year-old has run four times over hurdles this term, placing each time bar a 25-length success at Catterick in late December. That victory also happened to be her sole start over 3200m, a trip she returns to when holding plenty of appeal here.

Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden have some fine chances at Taunton, not least with Inca De Lafayette in the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old has won two of his three starts this term, with his only defeat coming when pulled up at Huntingdon in November.

He bounced back to winning form at this track last month, travelling well over 3800m before keeping on to see off Mr Freedom by 1.5-lengths.

Nicholls switches him back to 3200m here, but having won over the distance on his seasonal bow, that is not a concern.

Triumph entry Golden Move makes his debut for the Ditcheat team in the Royal Bath & West Of England Society Maiden Hurdle.

A winner on the Flat for Richard Fahey, he was bought for 215,000 guineas at the autumn sales and as a 20-1 shot for the Festival, connections will be hoping he makes a seamless switch with the big day in mind.

On the all-weather at Newcastle, the hugely-consistent Pallas Lord can strike again in the Stay Golden With BetMGM Safer Gambling Handicap.

The six-year-old, who is trained by Donald Whillans, has visited Gosforth Park for his past five runs and has not been out of the top two.

Running over 1400m and 1600m, he has won three times from those starts and even as a runner-up he has never been far from the top spot.

His most recent success was only last week in an apprentice race that leaves him without a penalty this time and he is clearly in top form as he returns to his favourite circuit.

Azure Angel is worth following in the Build Your Acca With BetUK Handicap as she returns to the track for the first time since July. A dual winner at the back end of her juvenile campaign, Azure Angel won one of her two starts in 2023 but has been off the course following that Chelmsford verdict. - Press Association
