Queen can reign at Sandown

February 2025

Holloway Queen has the talent to defy a penalty in the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Jane Seymour Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Sandown on Thursday.

Nicky Henderson's charge has to give 5lb away to her four rivals due to a Listed-class success at Haydock in the run-up to Christmas, but she was mightily impressive in that 15-length romp.

Her previous Lingfield victory has also worked out well, with runner-up Jasmine Bliss and third-placed Jesuila Des Mottes both obliging since.

Henderson has admitted he is keen to capitalise while testing conditions are in Holloway Queen's favour, rather than focusing on spring festivals, so this looks an ideal opportunity to pick up a nice Grade Two prize.

Mount Tempest put in a most pleasing performance when scoring last time out and can make it three course-and-distance triumphs in the Boxxe 'Ubique' Handicap Chase.

Farceur Du Large gets the nod to repeat last year's triumph in the Team Forces Royal Artillery Gold Cup for Jamie Snowden and Major Will Kellard.

They failed to land a Grand Military Gold Cup double here last month following a far from fluent round of jumping, but he is usually far more reliable in that department.

We Got Your Back can complete a hat-trick in the Join Racing TV Now Novices' Handicap Chase at Leicester.

Laura Morgan's seven-year-old had slipped down to an attractive mark prior to prevailing here over the festive period and again seemed to relish soft ground when following up in fine style at Catterick.

Bucksy Des Epeires has taken well to jumping fences and is worth following in the MHA Baker Tilly Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

He got better as the race went on when beating Rare Edition at Ascot and may have caught a tartar when second to The Kalooki Kid at Doncaster, as that winner readily scored again off a 7lb higher mark in Musselburgh's Scottish Champion Chase.

Patrick Mullins makes an appearance at Newcastle to ride Armed And Fabulous, but with his mount having been off for 452 days, fellow Irish raider Green Sky is preferred in the Shaklan Dubai Equine Products UK Mares' Maiden Hurdle.

The Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned five-year-old has run two fair races since joining Stuart Crawford from Joseph O'Brien and should be up to landing a contest of this level.

Dramatic License represents the same connections in the Watch Unbridled On attheraces.com Open National Hunt Flat Race and sets a strong standard following placed efforts at Roscommon and Downpatrick last summer.

Godolphin filly Pearl Of Hope kept on well enough in second at Kempton last time to suggest stepping up in trip for Chelmsford's bet365 Fillies' Novice Stakes should suit. - Press Association
