Zac Purton can continue his rich vein of form at Happy Valley in Hong Kong on Wednesday in Race 6, the Class 3 1000m Handicap, as up-and-coming four-year-old Heroic Master looks poised to score two wins on end.
Heroic Master arrived unbeaten from two starts in Australia and despite not being able to continue his winning ways first-up in Hong Kong, he was far from disgraced with a solid third place after racing wide throughout.
Second-up, he came on in leaps and bounds, sent off a well-backed 7-10 chance and justifying the market support, drawing away to score a soft 1.50-length victory and with plenty in hand.
Heroic Master looks to have ample upside for the Frankie Lor yard and meets a moderate field this week where he stands out as hard to beat again. He should relish what looks to be a fast-run race and be hard to hold out over concluding stages.
Purton will also help trainer Jamie Richards land another win in Hong Kong when he remains onboard Rattan Kingdom in Race 5, the Class 4 1200m Handicap.
Rattan Kingdom has done no wrong in his first two starts for Richards, finishing runner-up on each occasion but having a few hard luck tales along the way. First-up he raced wide from the 700m and covered too much ground against the winner while second-up he was beaten by a wide barrier when the rider had to steady early.
Third-up now, fitness shouldn't be an issue and if things fall into place in the run for the five-year-old, he can go one place better.
