Profitable prospects at Fairview

June 2021

GAVIN SMITH

Jack Milner: There appear to be some really decent bets at Fairview on Monday so Doubles and All To Come bets could be the way to go.

Of course, nothing is ever certain in the world of horseracing but after studying the card, it might be better to be a punter than a bookmaker at this meeting where they race on the Polytrack.

The three best bets come up in Races 2, 3 and 4 with Siever’s Point, Life On Mars and Jo Loves. All three are likely to go off at short prices but they can also be used as bankers in the Place Accumulator and BiPot.

Siever’s Point has only run twice and there was a lot to like about her last race when a 3.35-length third behind debut winner Razor Red on the turf.

The form has been franked by fourth-placed Global Design, who won her next start. Siever’s Point still showed much immaturity. That run should have brought her on, and as long as she adapts to the Polytrack, the Sharon Kotzen-trained daughter of Master Of My Fate will be hard to beat.

Life Of Mars has been racing in the Western Cape hand had his first race for trainer Gavin Smith on 28 May over 1400m on the turf. He drifted in the betting from 3-1 to 10-1 but still managed to finish a 6.25-length second behind Blingking.

He led early on, only fading late, and the drop to 1200m in this Maiden Plate should be ideal.

Best bet of them all could be Jo Loves in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1300m for fillies and mares. She actually won last time over 1400m at Kenilworth but caused interference when she started to hang in the closing stages and was demoted to second place.

She will be having her first start for Smith and looks far above any of her rivals.

There are other races which look to be  match in two – Zacpack Assassin and First Rain in Race 1, Bloom and Blue Duchess in Race 5 and Var’s Boy and Alpha Pappa in Race 7.

Swingers and Exactas should pay dividends.
