Pomp And Power heads up Daily News 2000 field

The fields for Saturday’s Grade 1 Daily News 2000 and Woolavington 2000 to be run at Hollywoodbets Greyville over 2000m were finalised on Monday.

Justin Snaith-trained Pomp And Power (pictured above), winner of the Grade 1 Cape Derby, heads up the field for the Daily News 2000 and will be ridden by Richard Fourie.

Mike de Kock has two runners in Safe Passage and Aragosta while Joe Soma will run Grade 1 WSB SA Classic winner Red Saxon.

With the withdrawal of Triple Tiara champion Rain In Holland, the Woolavington 2000 is there for the taking but Sean Tarry will be represented by Marigold Hotel who, along with Paul Peter-trained Sprinkles, is the joint best-handicapped runner.

The Grade 3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup over 2400m is the third feature race on the card.

There is also a Pick 6 carryover of R1-million going into this meeting with the pool likely to reach R5 million.
