APPLAUSE IN ORDER AT HAYDOCK

August 2025

By Anita Chambers, PA

Silent Applause can come out on top in what looks an intriguing Zyn Partner Of The Jockey Club Nursery Handicap at Haydock.

Charlie Appleby's runner is equally rated with the Karl Burke-trained Clear Force, who has been highly tried and has some smart bits of form in the book.

Preference is for the more unexposed Godolphin runner, who cost 1.4million guineas at the breeze-up sales in the spring but did take three attempts to get his head in front.

He was very green when fifth at Yarmouth in May before having to settle for second at Nottingham the following month, with the second outing representing an improvement in his level.

Silent Applause then got off the mark back at Nottingham at the start of July, dropping back to five furlongs and coasting to a one-length victory before undergoing a gelding operation in the interim.

Appleby sticks at the minimum trip here and while Clear Force's form has more weight, Silent Applause appeals as having more plenty more improvement to come.

Bellarchi can thrive back in handicap company at Musselburgh following a narrow claiming race defeat at Chester.

The four-year-old was beaten just a neck on the Roodee but that run can be upgraded as she was conceding 10lb to the winner, who was officially rated 2lb her superior.

Grant Tuer's charge had been running consistently well prior to that, winning at Catterick in July, and her unchanged mark of 78 looks competitive in the Champagne Pommery Brut Royal Gold Cup Handicap.

Cindy Lou Who can reward her supporters in the Harry Bloom Memorial 'Brighton Bullet' Handicap at the seaside track.

She comes here in good heart having landing a Windsor sprint series qualifier on her most recent run, when she not only looked reasonable value for the length margin but also proved her versatility in terms of ground when winning on soft going.

The three-year-old has only finished out of the first three once in four starts this term, also winning at Bath in May, and she might not have reached the ceiling of her ability yet.

Deadly Kiss defied 50-1 odds to finish second on her British bow and can take another step forward in the Maritime Cargo Services Outperforming The Opposition Handicap at Newmarket.

A winner in France for Francois Rohaut, Deadly Kiss made a decent start for James Horton when going down by just under two lengths after racing a bit keenly early on.

That was her first start since February so some progress is anticipated ahead of this.

Ribble Vibe is one to watch at Thirsk in the Join Racing TV Today Handicap.

An 8,000 guineas recruit from Godolphin last autumn, he showed a glimpse of ability for David O'Meara and his shrewd owners The Horse Watchers when third recently.
