Gavin to provide the value at the Vaal

The scratching of Runway Bomb from Race 6 at the Vaal on Tuesday has thrown the race wide open.

It is now advisable for bettors to add as many runners as the budget will allow into that leg of the Exotics as there are a number of candidates in this now seven-horse field who could fill the placings.

Topweight What A Honey has to be considered as she has been taking on stronger than she will meet on this occasion. The only issue is she seems to lost some of her sharpness and has finished out of the placings in her last three starts.

Unfortunately, the handicappers have not dropped her merit rating at all despite those unplaced efforts. Nevertheless, if she does find her previous good form, she has to be a lively contender.

Lucy In The Sky could provide the best value. Brett Webber's charge has raced against a lot stronger and her merit rating has dropped significantly. The engagement of Gavin Lerena to ride this six-year-old daughter of Noble Tune also looks significant and she should not be ignored. 

Avoontoast has always been highly regarded by trainer Joe Soma and bringing this four-year-old daughter of Twice Over back to a sprint could be just what she needs.
