Peter, Kennedy in line for hat-trick

June 2022

Paul Peter could score a hat-trick today at Greyville, which will go a long way to maintaining his lead at the top of the champion trainer table.
His three runners in question have all drawn pole position, a very important advantage when racing on the Polytrack.
His best runner on the day looks to be Peteca who lines up in Race 4, a 1600m Maiden Plate.
This Querari gelding ran third behind Another Thief three runs back - a form line that has produced three subsequent winners including JP Two Thousand.
Last time out, he was beaten only 0.90 lengths in a race that has seen five winners come out of it.
The three-year-old looks primed to shed his maiden tag.
With two wins from five starts, Fennec Fox looks the banker bet on the day in Race 7, a FM74 Handicap over 1000m.
Also by Querari, this two-year-old is rated head and shoulders above the rest of the field, and could show them a clean pair of heels despite carrying top weight.
In Race 6, a FM84 Handicap over 1400m, Mckenna Skye is due a third career victory.
This daughter of Act Of War is in red-hot form, but will have to overcome fellow Highveld raider Magical Flight from Sean Tarry’s yard.
Warren Kennedy will be aboard Peter’s hat-trick hopefuls.
Good news for bettors is that TAB will open betting on all South African race meetings as early as is possible in future.
Historically TAB has opened betting pools on the day of local race meetings with the exception of selected major meetings. Going forward, however, TAB betting will be available from the day after the official racecard for a local meeting has been published subject to certain limitations.
Betting on any racecourses can be opened once the official racecard is published provided there is not another race meeting utilising the same betting key beforehand. Thus, if there are Turffontein meetings on say a Wednesday and a Saturday, TAB betting on the Saturday meeting cannot be opened until the Wednesday meeting is completed.
