The three-year-old filly Paris Lass will be aiming to make it three wins in a row at the Fairview Polytrack on Friday.
She will take her place in a MR 96 Handicap over 1000m, race seven of eight, for the Gavin Smith stable.
Her last victory was a sensational performance in the Listed Milkwood Stakes in May when Calvin Habib was aboard.
The daughter of Visionaire showed good speed and guts that day to beat the highly regarded Three Rocks.
On Friday the 4kgs claim of apprentice jockey Nirvan Nastili will assist Paris Lass in her bid to notch up the hat-trick.
“Paris Lass loves track and trip. She is always a runner but she is taking on the boys with a lot of weight to carry,” Smith commented.
It is a competitive race and there will be plenty of speedsters ready to pounce if Paris Lass or the apprentice jockey fluffs their lines.
There are only three Fairview meetings left in the East Cape season. Alan Greeff will start Friday’s action with a handy lead of eight winners over Smith in the fierce trainers’ title race.
While Richard Fourie has been breaking records and securing the East Cape title, an interesting tussle has developed to secure the season award for the locally based jockey.
Kendall Minnie is leading this race, two ahead of Yuzae Ramzan. Charles Ndlovu is also in contention, four winners behind Minnie.
Minnie and Ramzan have four rides each on Friday. Ndlovu has five rides.
The meeting starts at 12:25.
