Paddy O'Mahler can claim Catterick cash

February 2026

Paddy O'Mahler holds sound claims of bringing up his hat-trick in the Visit racingtv.com Handicap Chase at Catterick on Tuesday.

Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith's eight-year-old heads to North Yorkshire following solid December wins at Newcastle and Haydock.

He has gone up 5lb for each of those triumphs, but at Haydock last time he always looked like obliging.

As he does not act as well in very deep ground he has been kept off the track during the incessant wet spell, but there has been enough of a break in the rain for the Catterick ground to dry up a little and he should prove hard to beat.

Roarin' Success massively outran her odds when second last time out and can go one better in the Racing TV Club Day Maiden Hurdle.

The Donald McCain-trained mare was 66-1 against Ruth Jefferson's promising Gaelic Rover, and while she was beaten 10 lengths she had a much better-fancied stablemate behind her.

Roarin' Success was trained by Harry Charlton on the level and she was better than average, winning off a mark of 79 at Hamilton in June.

Given her dam was a sprinter she does not have an obvious pedigree for hurdling, but she showed enough aptitude for the job last time out to suggest a minor race such as this should be within her range.

Phil Kirby's Bathgate is taken to stay one step ahead of the assessor in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle.

Kirby is very adept at racking up sequences with his horses and this looks another who still has a bit in hand, despite him winning three of his last four.

His last two wins have come over the same course and distance he faces here and while he is off a career-high mark, the way he was ridden last time suggests there is a bit more up his sleeve.

With a run under his belt Xcitations can be expected to strip a good bit fitter in the April 25th With Denise Van Outen Handicap Chase at Leicester.

Now an 11-year-old, he took a big step forward last season from his first run and did manage to win at Sandown with first-time cheekpieces on later in the campaign.

He was pulled up on his return from 10 months off the track at Uttoxeter in January, but that should have blown away a few cobwebs and given he was rated 140 at his peak, he should be competitive off his current perch of 120.

Hugo Palmer's Triple Double A looks interesting in the Midnite, Building The Future Of Betting Handicap at Newcastle.

He won his first three handicaps last year, with his winning spree starting from a mark of 59 and it only ended off a 20lb higher rating.

He ran a good race in the Silver Bowl at Haydock and also ran well in valuable races at Chester and then finally at the Curragh.

Triple Double A has not been seen since June, but could be a class above his rivals at Gosforth Park.

Ed Walker's Comprador was beaten just 0.5-lengths into third on his debut at Lingfield and looks the one to be on in the Create Your Bet Builders At Midnite Maiden Stakes.

A brother to Richard Hannon's Flying Childers winner Trillium, he was understandably green on his first run but should be wiser for that.

Following the Constitution Hill show on Friday, a quieter twilight fixture is in store at Southwell, where Ben Haslam's Wicksey can add to a couple of recent Newcastle triumphs in the BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Handicap. - Press Association
