Ormolulu can prove Brighton Belle

September 2023

Ormolulu appeared to relish being given a more patient ride at Leicester last time out and is fancied to follow up on Sunday at Brighton.

The three-year-old had shown a tendency to pull too hard in the early stages but was steadied at the start by Saffie Osborne on her most recent run.

That proved a shrewd move, as there was enough left in the tank for her to come through in the final 200m and get up close home.

Runner-up Miss Mai Tai had won her previous three races and third-placed Creative Style has since run well enough at Carlisle to suggest that form is solid.

If Osborne can again get her mount to settle in behind the early pacesetters in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap, Ormolulu should be suited by coming off a strong pace up front.

Charlie Johnston has been sending out plenty of winners of late and Zachary can help to keep the good run going in the Mansell McTaggart Nursery Handicap.

This juvenile put in his best effort to date when third behind Horse Whisperer at this venue after being gelded and should now continue on an upward curve.

Optiva Star can complete a quick course hat-trick in the St Leger Form Study On Attheraces.com Handicap for Richard Hannon.

He scored twice over 1400m here last month and the manner of those victories, staying on strongly each time, suggests stepping up in trip to 1600m will pose no problems.

Although now 3.5kg higher up the ratings than his initial strike, that is all offset by the allowance of capable apprentice Joe Leavy.

Worcester's National Hunt card opens with the interesting Neu-Servo Novices' Limited Handicap Chase and Jet Of Magic appeals on his debut over fences.

The seven-year-old secured a fourth win over hurdles at Uttoxeter in early July on his first start for Nigel Twiston-Davies and was travelling well enough when his saddle slipped two out there next time.

Sean Bowen is still setting a fast pace in the jump jockeys' championship and has some strong mounts, including in-form pair Saxon Queen and Olivers Travels for father Peter.

There is Group Three action at Tipperary in the Coolmore Stud No Nay Never Fairy Bridge Stakes and Honey Girl takes the eye here.

Joseph O'Brien had six initial entries and has whittled that down to three, with this daughter of Mayson rated the pick.

Honey Girl has already won at this level at the Curragh this year and, after contesting the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, was a fine second in the Group Two Minstrel Stakes at Leopardstown last time out.

Jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle showed his well-being with a Racing League double at Newcastle on Thursday.

Twilight Falls is backed to secure a confidence-boosting success in the Listed-class Irish Stallion Farms EBF Abergwaun Stakes over 1000m.

A course and distance winner at two, he was considered good enough to contest the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, was quietly fancied for the Commonwealth Cup last season and started out in Group Two company this term.

In the opening Camas Park Stud Irish EBF Maiden, London City can improve on her debut fifth at the Curragh, with Aidan O'Brien's filly being a daughter of dual-Classic winner Winter. - Press Association
