Official Secret was scheduled to race last week at Greyville but the meeting was called off.
However, Glen Kotzen’s charge will get her chance on Monday as she is carded to run in Race 5, a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m.
There are two differences from last week’s race, which was a MR 77 Handicap for fillies and mares and was over 1600m. That means she takes a drop in both class and distance and that should help her chances.
The daughter of Twice Over has only raced four times and there was a lot to like about her win last time in a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1500m where she had to overcome No 15 draw at Scottsville and easily beat Global Secret by 2.10 lengths.
While she will be taking on her elders, Official Secret is the runner most likely to improve. There do not look to be any real stars among this field, and being a handicap she gets the full benefit of the 9kg weight-for-age allowances afforded to two-year-olds at this stage of their careers.
As a two-year-old she does not currently have an official merit rating, but the handicappers do assess an unofficial rating after each run and currently that is 84, which means she will be racing of a net rating of 66.
Further good news is that in her penultimate start she demonstrated good form on the Polytrack when finishing a 0.20-length second behind Just For Laughs over 1200m.
To add to her chances Official Secret will also get the benefit of a 4kg claim this week as apprentice Kaidan Brewer has been given the ride. That will bring her weight down to 56kg.
The filly is nicely drawn in barrier No 4.
