The 2022 Highveld Feature Season Awards will be held at The Venue, Melrose Arch on Saturday 21 May 2022.
The event is hosted by the Racehorse Owners Association to honour and celebrate the achievements of our champions during the Highveld Feature racing season.
The nominees for the 2022 Highveld Feature Season Awards are:
Champion two year old filly:
Maharanee, Miss Cool
Champion two year old colt/gelding:
Karangetang, Union Square
Champion three year old filly:
Only one nominee – will be announced at the Awards function
Champion three year old colt/gelding:
Aragosta, Master Archie, Red Saxon, Safe Passage
Champion older horse:
Astrix, Flying Carpet, MK’s Pride, Princess Calla
Champion sprinter:
Alesian Chief, Al Muhtana (Aus), Big Burn, Master Archie, Smorgasbord
Champion Middle distance horse:
Astrix, Flying Carpet, MK’s Pride, Princess Calla, Rain in Holland, Red Saxon
Champion Stayer:
Aragosta, Nebraas
The voting panel consisted of Nico Kritsiotis, Robert Garner and Jack Milner and while some categories were fairly predictable, others attracted heated debate. However, by the conclusion of the deliberations the judges were satisfied that a fair process had taken place and the correct decisions were taken.
