No doubt about MJ at Greyville

Trainer MJ Odendaal, a former South African champion jockey, could be on the mark with Beyond All Doubt on the 10-race programme at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.

Beyond All Doubt was eye catching in his second start, has drawn a lot better now and importantly is given more distance in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1400m on the turf.

Beyond All Doubt was the fastest finisher over the final 400m last time. He came from well off the pace to finish just under two lengths off then well-versed Son Of Rafeef over 1200m. What made the run more creditable was that the son of sire The United States had only raced once and that was up the straight.

He was also returning from a rest and lost three lengths at the jump in his first run around the bend. He got to within a short head of re-opposing Vercingetorix gelding Place Of Practice who, with two runner-up cheques to his name, is fair bit ahead on official merit ratings of this field, bar Odendaal’s charge.

Beyond All Doubt should have his measure as he now goes over more ground and has drawn a lot better. He is related to high-class distance runner Madison Valley and should appreciate more ground with time to come.

Pressure Point could be his main danger and one for the Exacta after he didn’t give in and was pipped in his last start, Psyche has come out to frank that form, but Pressure Point is dropping in trip and may have to settle for second again.
