Morris Dancer can delight at Salisbury

Morris Dancer was only just denied at Goodwood but compensation awaits in the British Stallion Studs EBF Stonehenge Stakes on Wednesday at Salisbury.

Seventh to Chesham winner Humidity on his racecourse bow, Morris Dancer then hit the target in a Haydock novice, prompting John and Thady Gosden to make the leap to Group Two level in the Vintage Stakes.

Morris Dancer was sent off a 22-1 shot and after racing at the back of the field, he made significant progress in the final 200m to be beaten just a short head by the July Stakes hero Zavateri.

That was Morris Dancer's first run since May so he could certainly sharpen up for the experience, while the way he stayed on at Goodwood combined with his pedigree suggests this 1600m trip should be right up his street, particularly dropped to this Listed grade.

Azaniya has her first attempt at that level in the British Stallion Studs EBF Upavon Fillies' Stakes after winning each of her two starts this term.

She showed a glimmer of ability in two juvenile starts but has come of age this term, winning a Newmarket novice by 7.5-lengths on her seasonal bow before following up in a Windsor handicap subsequently.

Azaniya triumphed off a mark of 84 that day and while a subsequent 6-point rise leaves her a bit short of some rivals on the ratings, her three-year-old allowance puts her right back in the mix and while Revoir sets the standard, this 2000m trip might not be ideal for that one.

It is ladies' day at Beverley and Triggerman can send racegoers home happy with a win in the Jill Willows Handicap.

The four-year-old has yet to strike gold in five starts so far this term but came within a short head of victory over this extended 1400m trip last time.

He looked set to oblige but idled a bit right at the finish in a first-time visor - a move which cost him as he was grabbed on the line.

Julie Camacho retains the headgear in this event, but connections should be wiser this time.

Loch Leven can return to winning form back on familiar ground in Kempton's Unibet Zero% Mission Handicap.

Her best efforts have come at the Sunbury venue, finishing a narrow second in a novice contest in July last year before adding a fourth place and a win subsequently.

Two runs at Southwell this year have resulted in mixed results, with a fair second on her handicap debut followed by a much less promising effort last time.

She is still worth another chance back on Polytrack though.

Lunanova is on a roll and can defy a 6-point penalty in the Alison Thorpe Racing Handicap at Ffos Las.
