More success for Rivalland and Fourie

Fresh off a successful double last week, trainer Tony Rivalland and rider Richard Fourie could do much the same on Sunday at Hollywoodbets Scottsville as both Teriyaki and Celtic Beauty rate strong chances.

It was a bit unfortunate the race had to be taken away from Teriyaki after he shifted about, interfering with Plettenberg who also travelled like a winner. He did everything needed to win, showing good pace throughout and then stepping up a gear to fend off challenges and fighting to get his head down at the wire. He was his own worst enemy as he may have won it outright had he kept straight.

Plettenberg did come out to win his next start, so the form line has been proven. Teriyaki, a gelded son of Willow Magic, now faces a field low on experience in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1200m.

Celtic Beauty has been quietly brought onto the scene by Rivalland, having bypassed feature races, and has won two of her last three probably due to her merit rating starting off at a low base. But it is time for her to get serious as she lines up in Race 6, the Listed World Sports Betting Scarlet Lady over 1750m, one of three features on the card.

But, she is taking on fellow three-year-old Mary’s Greenlight who is second best weighted and it is easy to see why. The Mike De Kock inmate has been racing against some of the best around and has twice finished within two lengths of Frances Ethel. The latter, unbeaten in her last four, was a resounding winner of the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks, and on her way to contest even bigger events.
